M3: An emerging treatment for ARDS
To date, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) has been hard to treat, due to delays in diagnosis and implementation of anti-microbial therapy with simultaneous emergence of antibiotic resistance, rendering existing treatments ineffective.
Hypo-Stream’s M3 is not an antibiotic. Delivered safely to the lungs via a nebuliser, it makes simultaneous attacks on pathogens at hundreds of separate attack points, compared to single attack points as with antibiotics. It also rapidly de-escalates the acute phase inflammatory processes responses for septic shock and sepsis, through the neutralisation of Interleukin 6. Wider studies are ongoing at the University of Coventry which have confirmed efficacy against a very broad panel of pathogenic bacteria (including drug-resistant strains).
In studies for Hypo-Stream conducted by the University of Bristol, M3 was shown to be effective against SARS-Covid viruses. On exposure to M3, viruses are killed, and the protein spike (the mechanism of transmission of all viruses) is also destroyed.
ARDS occurs when lung infections do not respond to treatment and the lungs become overwhelmed with infection. The acute phase inflammatory response ‘spills over’ into the whole body, resulting in multiple organ failure, commonly known as Sepsis or Septic Shock. When nebulised, M3 is appears to reduce systemic inflammatory response, with early clinical studies signalling reduced time to recovery, with the reasonable hypothesis the risk of lung scarring is reduced, based on studies of surface wounds, and known mechanism of action.
